Why I'm Running
On October 13, 2024, my dear friend Andrea and I will embark on the journey to run our first full marathon. We will be representing Advocate Health Care as members of the charity running team at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of the charity running team, we will be training, fundraising, and ultimately running 26.2 miles to benefit patients and families in need.
By joining the charity running team, we become integral members of a diverse community committed to supporting various noble causes, including cancer research, assisting children and adults with Down syndrome, and expressing appreciation for the dedicated nurses and physicians who work tirelessly to save lives every day. Notably, the funds we raise will be directed towards enhancing the Pediatric Behavioral Health unit at Advocate Children's Hospital.
I have long advocated for the prioritization of mental well-being, particularly among our youth, recognizing the pivotal role it plays in shaping their futures. As human, I believe we have all grappled with mental health challenges, particularly during the formative years of self-discovery and navigating our place in the world.
This cause resonates deeply with me because it highlights the importance of nurturing mental resilience from an early age, by supporting individuals dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorders, and numerous other challenges.
Thank you for all of you who took the time to read this. It would mean so much to us if you decide to donate, please know that any donations count, big or small.
With much appreciation,
Stef
