Why I'm Running
On October 13, 2024, I will be running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in honor of my mother, Carole Swain, who passed away in 2022 from lung cancer. I will also be representing Advocate Health Care through its charity running team, a diverse group of people who are helping children and adults with Down syndrome, giving back to the nurses and physicians who save lives every day, and, especially meaningful to me, supporting cancer research.
As a member of the charity running team, I will be training, fundraising, and ultimately running 26.2 miles to benefit Cancer Care Treatment Programs at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Your support can help to ensure that more families have more days to spend with the ones they love, everyone has a fighting chance against cancer, and no one has to endure needless suffering. My mom had a fierce spirit, but this was a battle she couldn’t win. Each contribution to my fundraising efforts can provide the gift of hope to all the fighters who come through Advocate’s doors and allow more of them to leave with the gift of health.
Thank you for your consideration. Your gift of any amount will not only help me achieve my goal, but it will also keep world-class care accessible and close to home for over one million people.
