I’m thrilled to share that I was recently selected to run in the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on behalf of the Advocate Health Care Charitable Foundation and Team Advocate. Since January, I’ve been on their waitlist to fundraise and participate in the Marathon on their behalf. Representing Team Advocate is a great honor and is personal for my family and I.
At the beginning of the year, I set a goal to run 1,000 miles in 2026. In the first week of January, I found new motivation to run. My nephew Miles was diagnosed with a condition called LCH – Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. He was admitted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where he began immediate treatment, and where he continues to receive outpatient treatment. While Miles is well along his road to recovery, I won’t forget the way that he and his parents have been treated and cared for by the Advocate Health Care community since day one. When my wife Lauren and I went to visit Miles and his parents during their initial stay at Advocate Lutheran, one of the first things they told us was how great the staff and caretakers were. They didn’t compliment just one nurse or Doctor, they spoke highly of them all.
In the midst of those events, I was inspired to fundraise and run in the 2026 Chicago Marathon on behalf of the Advocate Health Care Charitable Foundation, Miles, and his parents. After 6 months on their waitlist, I’ve been given the opportunity to do just that. Come October 11th, I’ll be literally and figuratively running for Miles. If you have the means, please consider donating to my fundraiser at the link below. No donation is too small. While I must raise $2,200 as part of my commitment to Team Advocate, I have not set a fundraising goal as I don’t believe in limiting the compassion, charity, and generosity of humanity.
On October 11, 2026, I’lll be representing Advocate Health Care as a member of the charity running team at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of the charity running team, I’ll train, fundraise, and ultimately run 26.2 miles to benefit patients and families in need.
Since 2011, the Advocate charity running team has raised over $2 million for Advocate Health Care programs and services. By joining the charity running team, I’m part of a diverse group of people who are supporting cancer research, helping children and adults with Down syndrome, giving back to the nurses and physicians who save lives every day and much more.
You too can support Advocate Health Care by contributing to my efforts to fundraise. Your donation of any amount will not only help me achieve my goal, but will also help to ensure that over one million people have access to world-class care close to their home.
