Why I'm Running
On October 11, 2026, I will be running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon as a member of the Advocate Health Care charity running team. I will be training, fundraising, and ultimately running 26.2 miles in memory of my dad, Robert Lang, whose life was taken by cancer.
This race is deeply personal. Like many families, mine experienced firsthand the emotional, physical, and financial toll that cancer places on patients and those who love them. Running this marathon is my way of honoring my father’s memory while supporting others who are walking a similar path today.
All funds I raise will directly benefit the Advocate Health Fund for Cancer Service, helping ensure that patients and families have access to compassionate, high-quality cancer care, critical support services, and continued advances in treatment and research.
Since 2011, the Advocate charity running team has raised more than $2 million to support patients and families across our communities. I am proud to be part of that legacy and to contribute to a mission that brings world-class care closer to home for those who need it most.
If possible, I invite you to support this effort. A donation of any amount helps fuel both my journey to the starting line and Advocate Health Care’s mission to provide hope, care, and healing to more than one million people each year. Thank you for helping me run with purpose.
