My Why

This year, I’m running the Chicago Marathon in support of Advocate Health Care to raise funds for the incredible patients and families we care for. 

Advocate Health Care holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I completed many of my clinical rotations throughout nursing school and where I began my career as a nurse.

As a pediatric cardiac intensive care nurse, I have the privilege of caring for some of the strongest kids I’ve ever known. Every day I witness their courage, resilience, and determination as they face challenges most of us can’t imagine.

For many of these children, life itself is a marathon. They push their bodies every single day through surgeries, therapies, and long hospital stays with a strength that inspires everyone around them.

Running 26.2 miles is my way of honoring them. When the miles get hard, I’ll be thinking about the kids who show up and fight every day with bravery and heart. It’s a small way to give back to the patients who inspire me and remind me why I chose this profession.
