Why I'm Running
Over the last few years, life has brought more transitions than I ever expected. Through all the twists, uncertainties, and moments of chaos, two things kept me grounded: running and an incredible support system. One of the strongest, fiercest members of that support system has always been my best friend, Heather.
Heather and I both work for Advocate Health. In 2023, she was diagnosed with Stage II Breast Cancer. She handled each challenge with courage, humor, and grit, and we stormed the chaos together. Recently, she had a setback and needs additional treatment. Watching her fight this battle has reshaped my understanding of resilience.
This year, I decided it was time to chase a personal dream I’ve held close for years: running a marathon. And there is no one I’d rather run it for—and with on my mind every step—than Heather.
So I’m officially joining the Advocate Breast Program charity team for the 2026 Chicago Marathon. I’m running to honor Heather’s strength, to uplift the patients and families who walk this journey every day, and to support the incredible caregivers who give so much of themselves.
