Purpose in Motion‍♀

On October 11, 2026, I’ll be running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon as part of the Advocate Charitable Foundation charity team, representing Advocate Health Care.

I’m running this race for reasons that go far beyond the miles. As a Latina working in healthcare, I’ve seen how access to quality care is not always equal. Through my work focused on patient safety and healthcare quality, I’ve seen how gaps in care can directly impact families, especially those from underrepresented and underserved communities. These experiences have shaped both my career and the values I stand for.

Beyond my professional role, community involvement has always been important to me. I actively volunteer with organizations focused on leadership development, mentorship, and creating opportunities for others, especially for students and early-career professionals navigating healthcare. Giving back to the community I come from is something I carry with me in everything I do.

Being part of Advocate’s charity running team allows me to bring my professional work and community values together. I’ll be training, fundraising, and committing myself to 26.2 miles in support of patients and families who rely on Advocate’s programs and services. Since 2011, this charity team has raised more than $2 million to support cancer research, care for children and adults with Down syndrome, and provide resources for the nurses, physicians, and care teams who show up for patients every day.

To me, health equity means making sure people feel seen, heard, and cared for, regardless of their background, language, or circumstances. This marathon represents my commitment to advocating for safer, more equitable healthcare, both through my work and through continued service in the community.
