Chicago Marathon 2026 or Bust
Why I'm Running
I began my running journey in 2014. I signed up for my first 5K, The Phillies 5K, and started on my quest using the Couch to 5K app. I remember barely being able to get through 1 lap at the park without gasping for air. When race day came, I completed it but struggled mightily at the end; walking with the finish line in sight. Becoming a "runner" was a slow process, but one that I enjoyed. Each run became a bit easier, as my pace decreased and my distance increased. I proceeded to build this stamina and distance and ultimately ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2016. I finished in an excruciating 5 hours and 30 minutes. In 2017, I began to train at Crossfit 267 and my body composition began to change along with my running pace. That year I trained with Students Run Philly Style to complete my second marathon, more than 30 minutes faster than my previous one. 2019 brought a massive change in my lifestyle with the birth of my twin daughters, Lily and Harper. Fitness was still a priority but raising my children was at the forefront.
I continued to train at Crossfit but racing definitely took backseat. In 2023, I decided that it was time to get my nutrition in check. I finally realized that you can't out train a bad diet. After years of yo-yo dieting, I began consistently tracking macronutrients and calories to better my body. Since 2023, I have lost almost 50 pounds and feel better in my own skin than ever. I have committed to running the 2026 Chicago Marathon to prove to myself that I can be a great mother and also not give up the part of me that I once loved so much.
On October 11, 2026, I will be representing Advocate Health Care as a member of the charity running team at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of the charity running team, I will be training, fundraising, and ultimately running 26.2 miles to benefit patients and families in need.
Since 2011, the Advocate charity running team has raised over $2 million for Advocate Health Care programs and services. By joining the charity running team, I am part of a diverse group of people who are supporting cancer research, helping children and adults with Down syndrome, giving back to the nurses and physicians who save lives every day and much more.
You too can support Advocate Health Care by contributing to my efforts to fundraise. Your donation of any amount will not only help me achieve my goal, but will also help to ensure that over one million people have access to world-class care close to their home.
