Why I'm Running
Why I'm Running
I want to share something very close to my heart. I’m training for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon as part of the Advocate Health Care charity running team, and this journey means more to me than I can put into words.
When my daughter Gisselle was born, she came into this world far too early just six months. She was tiny, fragile, and fighting for her life. Those days in the NICU at Masonic Hospital were some of the hardest of my life. I remember the fear, the uncertainty… and I remember the incredible Advocate team who stood by her side every single moment. They cared for her, protected her, fought for her, and gave me hope on the days when I felt I had none.
Because of them, my baby girl who once fit in the palm of my hand is now 11 years old, strong, healthy, and full of life. I will never forget what Advocate gave us.
That’s why I’m running. This marathon is my way of honoring the people who helped save my daughter. It’s my way of giving back to the families who are in the same place I once was scared, praying, and holding onto hope. If you’re able, I would be deeply grateful for a donation of any amount. My goal is $2,200 and every dollar goes directly toward helping families, improving care, and supporting the life changing work that Advocate does every day.
Thank you, truly, for your love, your support, and for being part of Gisselle’s story and mine. I’ll be carrying all of you in my heart as I cross the finish line on October 11, 2026.
With love,
Sule
