Next year, I?ll be lacing up my running shoes once again to take on the 2026 Chicago Marathon ? but this time, every mile has a deeper meaning. I?m running to raise funds for Advocate Health?s Cancer Research and Care initiatives, a cause that has become profoundly personal to me and my family.
In the past year, our world changed when my daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. Watching her fight with such courage and resilience has been both heartbreaking and inspiring. Through every treatment, every small victory, and every difficult day, I?ve seen the power of hope, community, and compassionate care.
Running has always been my outlet ? a space to find strength, reflection, and perseverance. Now, it?s also my way to give back to the people and programs that give families like mine the support they desperately need. Every step I take through the streets of Chicago will be in honor of my daughter and for all those who continue to fight this battle.
This marathon isn?t just about crossing the finish line ? it?s about fueling research, improving care, and standing in solidarity with every child, parent, and family touched by cancer.
