Why I'm Running
On October 11, 2026, I will be representing Advocate Health Care as a member of the charity running team at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of the charity running team, I will be training, fundraising, and ultimately running 26.2 miles to benefit patients and families in need.
I have worked for Advocate for 6 years, 4 of which have been in the children's hospital. In the last 2 years, I transitioned to a role within pediatric endocrinology that has been an incredible experience. Children diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes are suddenly faced with a job they never applied for, but must take care of on a day to day basis. Responsibilities also fall on the families as well since this is a team effort diagnosis. Our efforts in putting on events creates more of a sense of community for our patients and their families. It's a big world, but the diabetes world is a small one. No one can understand the day in and day out struggles other than those who also face the same challenges. It's wonderful to see kids meet and bond as well as parents make connections.
Not only will funds I raise benefit patients at Advocate Children's Hospital, it will specifically go towards the Pediatric Endocrinology - Oak Lawn department to fund future events for our patients!
