Why I'm Running
Running the Chicago Marathon has been my goal for three years, ever since I completed my first half marathon in 2022. For me, running symbolizes more than just that—it's about persevering through the challenges and achieving something I never thought possible.
Losing my dad to cancer in 2014 was devastating, and in the years following, I sought ways to cope with that grief and I found running. As I started this journey, I discovered that my dad had also enjoyed running when he was younger. This connection has deepened the meaning of running for me—it's become a way to keep him in my heart and still find ways to feel close to him.
Every step I take, every mile I conquer, feels like a tribute to him and a reminder of the strength we both carry. The marathon isn't just a race; it's a culmination of all the years of healing, remembering, and pushing myself beyond my limits.
On October 12, 2025, I will be representing Advocate Health Care as a member of the charity running team at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of the charity running team, I will be training, fundraising, and ultimately running 26.2 miles to benefit patients and families in need.
Since 2011, the Advocate charity running team has raised over $2 million for Advocate Health Care programs and services. By joining the charity running team, I am part of a diverse group of people who are supporting cancer research, helping children and adults with Down syndrome, giving back to the nurses and physicians who save lives every day and much more.
You too can support Advocate Health Care by contributing to my efforts to fundraise. Your donation of any amount will not only help me achieve my goal, but will also help to ensure that over one million people have access to world-class care close to their home.
