Yuri's Journey to Chicago
My Journey to Chicago 2025
I have always dreamt of running a marathon in Chicago - there is no city quite like it! Chicago is vibrant and lively, with its scenic views of Lake Michigan, gorgeous skylines and diverse and cultural communities. While enduring the below-zero temps were tough, I reminisce on the core memories I made during my four years in the Windy City and I hope to return to the city..this time on my feet for 26.2 miles.
Running a marathon is not a solo feat. During my training process for my first LA marathon, I met a welcoming community of runners, who both challenged and motivated me, whether it be during a 10+ miler at the break of dawn or a fun coffee and pastry run. I am also grateful for the support from my family and friends who give me an extra boost with their smiles and cheers. All this to say…there is power in community!
I love running with a community as it continually inspires me to chase new goals, such as running a world major like Chicago, to support others in their journeys, and to run for a cause! I am excited to represent Advocate Health Care as a member of their charity running team for the Chicago Marathon on October 12, 2025. As a member of this team, I will be training, fundraising and ultimately running 26.2 miles to benefit patients and families in need.
With a personal passion for helping individuals with developmental disabilities and communication disorders, I have chosen to donate all funds to the Autism Treatment Program, a specialized program that provides family-centered and multidisciplinary care for children with autism.
Please join me in supporting Advocate Health Care by contributing to my efforts to fundraise for this program. Your donation of any amount is SO appreciated and will benefit children and families in need. I invite YOU to join me and this community!
