Why I'm Running
Sometimes, you need to look back to move forward. This year, I started running to develop discipline and resilience, with the goal of becoming a better person. At first, I hated it, but along the way, I began to enjoy it and eventually became a true fan of running. Living in one of the cities that hosts a major marathon, I applied for the 2025 Chicago Marathon, but was initially rejected. However, I discovered that fundraising could provide another route in, and I found that Advocate Health Care was one of the charities involved.
In March 2024, my daughter was born with an unusual heart rhythm, and the day after her birth, she was transferred to Advocate Children’s Hospital. There, she received exceptional care from the entire staff, as did we, her parents. I am deeply grateful and would like to give back in appreciation.
I now understand that to achieve my goal of running the marathon, I need to take a different path. Rather than simply applying and paying as a regular runner, this is my time to give back and make a meaningful contribution.
On 2025, I will be representing Advocate Health Care as a member of the charity running team at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of the charity running team, I will be training, fundraising, and ultimately running 26.2 miles to benefit patients, just like my own little one once was, and families in need.
