As the current leader of Trauma Surgery at Advocate Christ, I see every day the lasting impact of the program Dr. Gary Merlotti built more than 40 years ago. His vision established Christ as a Level I Trauma Center and continues to guide our commitment to excellence, teamwork, and compassionate care.

Dr. Merlotti was not only an exceptional surgeon, but also a respected teacher and mentor whose influence extends across generations of trauma professionals.

Trauma care extends well beyond discharge. Survivors face complex recoveries, and our teams must continually advance their skills to meet evolving needs. Sustained investment in both education and survivorship is essential.

Thanks to generous support, we have achieved our goal and are proud to formally establish the Gary Merlotti Trauma Education and Survivorship Fund. This fund will advance clinical training for trauma caregivers while strengthening programs that support survivors and their families.
